The earliest known Redman is from Wiltshire.
We have traced the Redman family name back to Alexander Redman from St Martin's Parish, Salisbury in about 1685. In fact the whole branch of the Redman family came from Wiltshire until John & Mary Redman moved to London with their son, William.
Elizabeth with her brothers and sisters grew up and lived in the school at Urchfont [pictured below] - their parents being head master and mistress.
Croucher, Woodford and Pasby Alexander Redman married Mary Croucher. Dates and parents unknown. Elizabeth Woodford (daughter of James Woodford and Elizabeth Pinkney) married William Redman on 27 Mar 1754. Sarah Pasby married John Redman in 1783 - her father, John Pasby 1750.

The Giddings ( and Davis )
The entire Giddings family seems to have originated from, and lived in, Urchfont.
It is purported that 5 Giddings Plague victims were buried here in about 1550. The family has been traced back to John Giddings [or Geyddings], born about 1530.
